Word Perception
SO - I have to start right off with an apology this week. Gotta
love it!
Not sure who I should be apologizing to, for sure, but I'll do
it anyway. I used a word last week - “tea-bagger” - which is, apparently, a
dirty word. I was severely chastised with ...
... using the phrase "Tea-bagger" to describe those Americans
who are upset and concerned about the path of their country is
morally offensive and wrong.
John
Morally offensive? Well, I'M morally offended if these
nut-cakes believe they are the only folks upset and concerned
about the path of their country!
I'm sure as HELL one of those Americans who is upset and
concerned about the path of my country, but I'm definitely NOT a
“tea-partier” (which is the word I apparently should have used).
Not being a porn fan, I was unaware of the sexual connotation of
the word “tea-bagger.” Once I looked it up, it even seemed like
some complete moron must have chosen that term for the act it
(supposedly) describes.
In any event, I apologize to anyone I offended with my wrong
choice of words - even though I'm relatively sure no sane person
would have believed I used it in “that” way.
I also had a problem with another word I used. I wrote:
“I am an Independent, and I lean towards being a Liberal -
although I prefer to call it Progressive.”
I received the following:
Good article. We can agree on most of what you stated except
one thing. Do you really understand what "progressive" means
when it comes to politics? The "progressives” want to drive us
to socialism, that leads to communism etc. That takes all of
our rights away. Then we no longer can do what we do now.
Progressives are against any form of capitalism.
Wayne

This is what happens when folks start allowing the media
to define terms for them. And, one of the things I'm up in arms
over, today, is the way so many bazillionaire media con-artists
don't hesitate for a second to outright lie and twist things to
the way they want YOU to see them.
Yes - as a matter of fact, I DO really understand what
"progressive" means when it comes to politics. MY definition of
“progressive” is:
“Favoring or advocating progress, change, improvement, or
reform, as opposed to wishing to maintain things as they are,
especially in political matters.”
Where did I get it? Outta the damn dictionary - which, in MY day,
was where we went for definitions. And, no where, under the
definition of “Progressive” did it mention Socialism, Communism,
Capitalism or “our rights.”
Before we leave last week's message, I came upon a free report
which will help you discover the top 100 safest banks in the USA
- two for each state. It includes how to choose a safe bank.

The next issue of the Trade Journal, on February 15th, is going
to miss Valentine's Day by one day. So to change our tone, a
bit, I'll give you my Valentine's Article this week.
Have a loving week, and ... Keep on Keepin' On!
