Hi Everyone!

I don't know what gremlins wrote this newsletter last week, but it's couldn't have been me who made that email mess! Sorry about that. I must have been distracted before editing and went straight to making the web page.

I'm easily distracted, lately.

I have a daughter getting married next weekend, a mama duck sitting on eggs and another mama duck that seems to have disappeared. Something (or someone) must have snatched her right off her nest.

Adorable Dora is the one who is still sitting. She lost two nests last year so, this year, she went further away from the lake. She even crossed a street. So, I hold my breath every day until she shows up at my door to eat and drink fresh water.

For the entire time she's been on that nest, we've had no rain, and the temperature has been 99 to 103 - with heat indices up to 110. I don't know how she stands it. The ducklings should hatch some time this week.

Then, all Miss Dora has to do is get them home across a semi-busy street and ward off hundreds of turtles once she has them on the lake. I don't know how I can bear to watch!

PayPal Glitch

This will be a reminder for some and new information for many more. If you have a PayPal account, it's information you should know.

When you get ready to update a new credit or debit card - or when you update banking information - do NOT remove the old information first.

Enter your NEW information, first - THEN delete the old.

If you delete the old information first, PayPal will instantly cancel any subscriptions you have.

It's a royal PITA for everyone involved, since you, then, have to set up all new subscriptions, or you can find yourself locked out of some membership sites - or having payments “bounce.”

I don't know why they don't fix this, or, God forbid, PayPal explain how to do it on the pages!

Short Survey

I've always considered all social sites a gigantic waste of time. That's in addition to the fact that I don't really trust their security.

Of course, many reports have appeared telling folks all about how to use these sites to build their business. Maybe that's true. Or, maybe it's just propaganda to sell ebooks.

So, I thought I would ask our readers. Let's just stick with one site. Twitter - since it seems to be the most popular. Since I can't imagine using my time to report that I had a tuna sandwich for lunch, they MUST be doing something else with that thing!

Today's Article

Although the author of today's article is writing about the USA, I'm sure this can be generalized to any country in the kind of sad shape the U.S. is in.

The solution my old and dear friend, Dennis Gaskill, suggests is SO obvious to me, I never understand why the entire population doesn't see it. So I'm offering it for your consideration - just as Dennis offered it to his own readers. The article came from a column in Dennis' "Almost a Newsletter."

And, by the way, I believe we couldn't SHOW our patriotism any more clearly than to have this kind of revolution.

REMEMBER: If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got.

A: I appreciate you wanting to know what I think, but I'm not going to pretend I know enough about it to offer an opinion that's worth reading. I am using your question though, because I thought it was appropriate for offering this food for thought...

• When we can send men to the moon,
• when we can transplant hearts and even faces,
• when we can erect a building over a half mile high...

• People dying from lack of food,
• people dying from lack of water,
• people dying from lack of health care.

I think a combination of greed, lust for power, and moral corruption in government and big business is the reason we let people die for lack of basic needs.

I blame career Demon-crats. I blame career Republi-cons. I blame the medical industry. I blame big business. I blame the legal system. I blame the media. I blame apathy.

I don't have any solutions other than sweeping the house clean, and by that I mean voting out career politicians. As Albert Einstein said, "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."

Career politicians have created or turned a blind eye to most of the problems we have by the laws they enact or fail to enact, so if we want to solve these problems we have to clean out the kind thinking that led to them.

I believe few politicians put the citizens’ interests first anymore. They cloak issues in language that makes them appear caring and altruistic but, in reality, their words are carefully scripted to elicit the desired response.

It's all standard operating procedure to most of them, nothing more than window dressing. They depend on citizen apathy and laziness to stay in office. Their unspoken motive is to make themselves and their political contributors and allies more wealthy and more powerful.

Politicians are aided by a national media that has way too much power concentrated in far too few hands. We seldom hear the whole truth anymore, we only hear what they want us to hear.

It's time for "We, the People" to start cleaning house . . . before we're cleaned out.
