It's been a long time since I've sent out articles, but I'm turning over a new leaf!
Just a Thought
People love to buy but hate to be sold.
If you're an online business owner, this is the perfect time to give things away. I know - I know, we're always told the “freebie” is almighty.
But, I'm not talking about the trash usually given away to stimulate sales. I'm talking about things of value, freely given, to establish ongoing customers. Everything doesn't have to be huge. Everyone trying to out-do each other is exhausting. In fact, it's the MOST exhausting thing about working online.
Small things add up - especially, when they are excellent. That's the secret right there ... The world would be a better place with more people doing more, small, excellent things.
Okay - that was MY thought. Now, I'm going to ask about yours!
My business partner in iCopHosting [www.icophosting.net], Chuck Mattice, saw a bumper sticker that has him fascinated. It read:
“Stop Bitching - Start a Revolution”
We were talking about this and what it could really mean - how powerful it could be.
iCop member, Dr. David Gruder has done exactly that - started a revolution regarding integrity. He asks folks to sign an “Integrity Pledge” and become involved.
Needless to say, I'm behind Dr. Gruder 100%!
Chuck and I thought it would be highly interesting to put this
idea to you as the general public. So, here are the two
questions:

Recession Suggestion
A few weeks ago, when I was writing about saving money, I mentioned using Vonage as your phone service at home. If you have cable internet, you can use Vonage.
I've used it for three years, and I highly recommend it. I've never had a problem with it. When I go out of town, I can forward all calls to my cell phone, so I never miss a call.

New Resource
My ol' buddy, Tom Koziol has a son who has come up with a FABULOUS resource for people in the U.S. Armed Services. This is a “Military Only” list similar to Craig's List.
You may or may not know that active military members get moving orders every few years. They are called PCS (permanent change of station) orders. With these moves, issues like whether or not to sell the car, find living quarters, maybe a lease needs to be broken, a house sold, etc., arise. This site will help alleviate many of these issues.
MME was designed to match members leaving a base who need to get rid of items they no longer want/need with members who are moving into the base who may need these items. In another words, it is a FREE classified ad type of site strictly for the military member.
MME also has a few unique features members can find very helpful. There is a “Merchant Friendly” (MF) tab, as well as, an “Off Limits” (OL) tab. Believe me when I say a military person understands the importance of these two tabs.
When a member gets to their new base, they can check the MF tab and find businesses in good standing with their base. They can also check the OL tab to find the merchants on the local Off Limits list.

This is a brand, new, specialty type site that may very well apply to a member of your family. I know it does mine - several members. So, let's get this TERRIFIC idea off to a great start!

"What's My Line?"
A cowboy named Ryan was overseeing his herd in a remote mountainous pasture in Taylorsville when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced toward him out of a cloud of dust.
The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, RayBan sunglasses and YSL tie, leaned out the window and asked the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, Will you give me a calf?"
Ryan looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "Sure, Why not?"
The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his Cingular RAZR V3 cell phone, and surfs to a NASA page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo.
The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany.
Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses an MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response.
Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer, turns to the cowboy and says, "You have exactly 1,586 cows and calves."
"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves," says Ryan. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on with amusement as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car.
Then Ryan says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my calf?"
The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?"
"You're a Congressman for the U.S. Government", says Ryan.
"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"
"No guessing required," answered the cowboy. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked. You used millions of dollars worth of equipment trying to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you don't know a thing about how working people make a living - or about cows, for that matter. This is a herd of sheep.
Now give me back my dog.
